This HAZOP course will give attendees a complete grounding in what HAZOPs are, their purpose and how to organize them. The course will discuss what has to be done to prepare for a HAZOP and the documentation required. Who should attend HAZOPs will
be reviewed.
The course will discuss in detail the HAZOP methodology and risk ranking. The roles of the key team members will also be discussed. In addition a significant portion of the course will be to discuss the role of the facilitator and the requirements for a good facilitator.
Attendees of this course will participate in a mock HAZOP and will be able to play the role of facilitator and team members. The course will also review the HAZOP reporting requirements as well as a review of HAZOP jargon and glossary.

Keith Timms, P.Eng.
Keith Timms is a Senior Process Engineer with 40 years of international experience in the design and operations of petrochemical, oilsands, mining, upgrading, utilities, offsites, oil, gas and water treatment plants.
He has developed expertise in overpressure protection and flare design, is the technical authority on a large ongoing PSV validation project in Alaska, and has written the WorleyParsons PSV training manual.
Having a great interest in safety, Keith has worked in operations for over 20 years. As a skilled facilitator of HAZOPs, LPOA, risk assessments and decision analyses, Keith has facilitated hundreds of these for a large range of facilities including SAGD, cokers, tailings, power stations, amine, sulphur, steam systems, etc.
Keith is a hands-on facilitator that draws out risks and hazards and also tries to make the sessions enjoyable. Clients include Shell, Syncrude, Suncor, Husky Energy, Nexen, IOL, BP, ConocoPhillips and Enbridge Pipelines.
Keith is a funny, energetic, positive instructor that enjoys working closely with clients to deliver innovative solutions. He believes in developing good rapport by listening and understanding goals and interests.
Keith is currently a Senior Process Engineer with WorleyParsons and has been a P.Eng. with APEGA since 1984.
