  • Describe the purpose, components and terminology of Strategic Planning
  • Define the objectives and desired outcomes for your Strategic Planning Process
  • Identify when and how different stakeholders will be involved
2) Identify, collect and assess objective and relevant facts to support decision making
  • Collect external information (opportunities and threats) based on PEST and Porter’s 5 forces of industry
  • Collect internal information (strengths and weaknesses) based on core competencies and value chain
3) Assess options to decide on the best course of action
  • Conduct an effective SWOT analysis
  • Develop and assess scenarios
  • Define the decision making approach
  • Develop the Strategic Plan report, including an Action Plan

Speaker/s

Debbie Narver (BSc MBA MScIB) is the founder and principal consultant of Narver Management Consulting, located on beautiful Vancouver Island, Canada. She specializes in organizational development, and in particular, online facilitation with diverse and geographically dispersed teams to develop creative solutions to complex business problems.

Debbie is an experienced manager, having spent 16 years working in the B.C. Public Service, where she transitioned from technical to leadership roles. She participated in and lead multi-stakeholder projects, often during times of major organizational restructuring. As such, she brings her real world experience to help managers with difficult problems.

Based on her education, leadership training and experience, Debbie provides training and professional development support for supervisors, managers and business leaders to take their management skills to the next level. Her training style focuses on developing competency through applied exercises and reflections. She uses a variety of teaching approaches to meet the different learning styles of students.

Debbie is also the author of 'Solving the REAL Business the Right Way: A Practical Guide for Business Leaders' and 'How to Manage Culturally Diverse Work Teams' (Amazon, Kindle and print edition). She is the lead researcher and author of 'Cultural Diversity and the Perceived Performance of MBA Teams published by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (June 1, 2010).
