PAINTING 1.0
After learning the fundamentals of drawing using pencils, the student will learn to render forms using the brush. He or she will be introduced to the medium and the tools of oil painting. The Galvez Atelier Traditional Oil Painting have several components.
Gaining Control Over Color Mixing
The student will learn to work using limited colors to gain a more efficient understanding of the color palette. He or she will learn processes in achieving color harmony and balance by identifying color groupings, distinguishing color temperatures, and understanding contrasts. The student will also increase his or her sensitivity to tonal values and composition. These processes will allow the student to paint efficiently, a skill needed when the student eventually uses other fast drying media like acrylic.
Building up Underpainting
Fine art works in the canon of art history should serve as exemplary models not to intimidate but to emulate. At Galvez Atelier, the student will experience the time-tested methods of classical masters. Underpainting provides the foundation for applying multiple layers of colors in succeeding processes.
Layering Colors Made Easy
Color is light. Our summer art workshops teach how each layer of colors channels light. The student will learn the correct way of applying layers of colors. This segment shares similar principles in watercolor painting.

ALFRED GALVEZ
To hone his artistry as a muralist, Galvez sojourned at the Bottega de Arte, Florence, Italy. After many decades of experience, Galvez founded MIKRA Faux, Inc., a group of artists specializing in Fine Art murals. The mural project for the Ateneo de Davao Chapel of Christ the King that features the splendor of Mindanao heritage is just one of the exemplary projects he led. For “Makati, A City Built by People” at the M1 Building in Makati, Galvez and his team studied the social rhythms of the city, the surge and dissipation of crowds, and the city’s sensorium.
Galvez’s artistic practice ranges from portraits to murals and faux finishes. Galvez is also known for his Filipinoiserie series, where he uses local scenes and leitmotifs to honor Filipino heritage, often reinventing and animating Philippine folklore.
Her most recent significant group exhibitions include the following: Borderless Space Jogja Art Festival (2022) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, under LAV Gallery; All Things Bright & Beautiful, All Creatures Great & Small (2022) in Hong Kong under Yidi Art Gallery; and Dancing in Supernova at Art Fair Philippines 2023 under Super Duper Gallery.
Almirol opened her first Solo Exhibition in September 2023 titled "Pantsdrunk" at Gravity Art Space, Quezon City; and her recent 2nd Solo Exhibition at Provenance Art Gallery, Shangri La The Fort, Taguig City last January 2024.
